Blender 5.0+ add-on
Select, mask and layer on the render itself
Layer Comp brings Photoshop's selection tools and layer stack into Blender's Image Editor, so you can point at the render instead of building masks node by node. Lasso, wand, quick selection and object selection feed masks into the compositor, and cutouts, fills and adjustments stack over your render as a node group. Everything it makes is a regular compositor node, and it only adds nodes and links, never rebuilding your tree.
What it does
Familiar selection tools
Lasso, polygonal lasso, marquees, magic wand, selection brush and Quick Selection, with Shift to add, Alt to subtract and marching ants around the result. Refine Edge snaps a rough selection to hair and foliage, and Pixels to Shapes turns a pixel selection into editable, featherable mask shapes.
Selections that follow the plate
Colour Range saves a live selection built from Distance Key nodes, and Select Object picks an object's exact coverage from the Cryptomatte pass, so both follow the image on every frame. Wand selections are flagged when the image changes, and Re-evaluate replays your clicks on the new pixels.
Adjust only what you selected
Select a Curves, Hue/Saturation or Exposure node, make a selection, and Use Selection as Factor limits that node to it. Grow, Feather and Invert stay as inputs on the node, and saved selections work like Photoshop's alpha channels that you can load, update and reuse.
A layer stack over your render
Add image cutouts, solid or gradient fills, groups, adjustment layers, Remove and Clone layers, each with blend mode, opacity, clipping, lock and a mask you can build from a selection or paint directly. The stack compiles into a CS Layers node group, laid out in labelled frames you can inspect.
People that stand in the scene
Place on Ground sizes and leans a cutout through the scene camera from a click at its feet, on a floor, stair or terrain. Behind Objects uses the Depth pass to hide a person behind a column without a mask, and Haze and Focus add depth haze and the camera's depth of field.
Cutouts that sit in the light
Contact and cast shadows follow each layer. Match Colour grades a layer to the render around it, and Choke, Light Wrap and Grain clean up edges and blend it in. Corner Pin places signs on walls or people on floors in perspective.
Retouching on the image
Remove turns a selection into a live hole filled by the Inpaint node, and Clone Stamp paints from a source you Alt-click. Layer via Copy copies selected pixels into a new layer for patching or extending a sky.
Comps, batch renders and layered export
Layer Comps save which layers show, where they sit and optionally the camera, and Render Comps writes each one to its own file. Export Layers writes a layered Photoshop file or multilayer OpenEXR with masks kept as masks, so you can keep working in Photoshop or Affinity.
