Protecting your Blender work
The sync owns the geometry it created. It does not own your decisions.
Your edit | Survives a resync |
|---|---|
A material you assigned | Yes |
A material assigned inside a block definition | Yes |
A material assigned to a layer collection | Yes — the collection is kept even when the layer empties |
UVs and edit-mode changes | Yes |
Modifier stacks | Yes |
A named-view camera you moved | Yes |
An object you detached | Yes |
Shading is carried by edge sharpness rather than per-face flags, so Bevel, Solidify and Subdivision propagate normals correctly across geometry they create.
Detach is the hard guarantee. A detached object keeps its geometry, leaves the sync entirely, and is never touched again — including after you save and reopen the .blend. Re-attach puts it back and requests a resync.
