Depth of Field and Fog layers
Added from the menu beside +. Like adjustment layers they work on everything below, with a mask and opacity, but by distance: the render's Depth pass, with each placed layer standing in at its own depth. A cutout person 4 m away blurs like the 4 m of render around them. Both need the Depth pass.
Depth of Field
- Each pixel is blurred by the thin-lens circle of confusion for its depth, from the camera's focal length and sensor and the layer's own Focus and F-Stop. Round or polygonal bokeh (Blades).
- Pick Focus focuses on what you click. Keyframe Focus to pull focus.
- Max Blur caps the radius.
- The camera's own depth of field doesn't need to be on, and changing the layer re-renders nothing.
Fog
- Mixes toward the fog colour by 1 − e^(−density × distance). Max caps it.
- Thins Over: the density falls off with height above Base Height, so fog lies in the valleys and the sky overhead stays clearer.
