Shadows and reflections
In the Shadows subpanel of an image layer.
Option | What it does |

Contact Shadow | A soft dark band where the layer's bottom edge meets the ground |
Cast Shadow | The layer's silhouette on the ground, pinned by four corners. Edit Shadow drags them; Reset Shadow puts them back |
From Light | For a standing layer: the shadow falls the way the scene's own light casts it. Pick the light, or it uses the first visible sun. Soft as the Light sets the softness from the light's size |
Reflection | The layer mirrored in the floor under its feet, for glossy floors. Strength, Roughness and Fade. With the Depth pass, it only shows on that floor |
Shadows have their own colour, opacity and softness, and follow the layer when it moves. Checked against Cycles: a From Light shadow overlaps the real shadow of a card standing in the scene at an IoU of 0.94.
